HD TV Tuner Help

Thread Starter
So I am looking to try out using a TV tuner. Here is what I want to do.
1. Play, stop, rewind and record live tv in HD.
2. would like to be able to stream over my network to my laptop or desktop.
3. would also like to program recording shows when not at home to watch later.
This is what I am looking at getting

- all PC's are running win 7 64bit
-I have Comcast basic cable going from wall into my HDTV which has a built in tv tuner so I am picking up basic HD channels. Also have Comcast 12meg line.
- Right now my HTPC is connected via Ethernet to my router, but my laptop is wireless B/G (not N) so am wondering if this will be a problem when watching HD TV via wireless.
-Can I use HTPC to record the HD shows, then watch them using say WMC 7 in my room.

appreciate any help.

From my understanding, the HDHomeRun will do exactly what you want.

yes.
I currently am using a PCI HVR 1600 by hauppage...I can record 1x show @ a time...(CW-CBS-NBC-ABC) - My cable provider is FIOS so Im getting clear unscrambled QAM (HD/1080i/p). I might try to install 2 more tuners (hvr1800) in another rig to make it dual pvrs via PCIe ...I can watch and burn dvds of the recordings post convertion...all this via WMC in win7...I still have to play around with MediaPortal (free) and GBPVR (free) to see the live tv recording functionalities...as to watching it wifi you might have to configure the sharing (permissions is a PIA in win7) and test it out depending on the strenght of ur signal

The HDHR will work for those clear QAM stations you receive, but just know that you want be able to record any of the other channels from your basic lineup.

You will likely be unable to stream the HD content properly with G network.
