Hehe, the scandals you are referring to, are actual decisions that are made in the game, and sanctioned by CCP.
They're not a scandal outside of EVE, more inside EVE, when a major corporation gets robbed by a corp thief, that's the news they bring out.

For the outside world this might seem like a 'failure' or indeed a scandal, whilst most of these stories are entirely based on RP instead of bringing you the latest of EVE's failure.

EVE is a very slow game to start with, progression is made through a learning skill system that is static, instead of a dynamic experience points system.
You aren't required to do mining if you don't like that route, many people mine because they can refine the raw ore into minerals and use those minerals to manufacture items, or sell the minerals on the 80% player driven market.

It took me quite some trials and years before I actually nailed EVE, though.
I'm still not quite content how they hide things in the menus, but for the most part it's been the most stellar performance I've seen in an MMO, both in scope and connectivity.

A game which gets released quick, gets flamed for being released with bugs. A game gets released slowly but bug free gets flamed for taking ages to come around!

Some people are never satisfied.

That's kind of long but I really want to make that my new sig lol.

*edit*
Also I'd really love to know just what exactly Guild Wars did for the mmo genre that WoW didn't. Someone made that post earlier but they provided no evidence or info at all. They simply made that comment. Sounds like a typical "I hate anything that is the most popular and always go for the small guy" attitude to me.

As many have stated I have no doubt it will be successful, as a long time fan of Blizzard games in general I'm going to anticipate it's release with the zen like patience I have been forced to practice for Blizzard games in development. Now the focus of this thread should be towards gossip/thoughts on what the hell this new MMO will actually be about. I could do without orcs and dancing elves for this one, so I hope the fact that it moves in a different direction from their current franchises will be a refreshing one.

I agree completely. I'm pretty confused myself. They stated that it won't compete with WoW but that it will complement it very well. Earlier they said though that the game would be so different and a brand new ip to where it wouldn't possibly draw subs from WoW. Putting those two together I'm down to absolutely ZERO ideas lol.

Activision does absolutely nothing to Blizzard's development priorities. People always just spout that drivel when they need something on their side of the argument.

They've also released quite a few games since the merge. Three, if memory serves.

I highly doubt that Activision, seeing as Boby Kotick is the CEO of that corporation, has no say in Blizzard's project.
I am not entirely familiar with how the merge worked, but I am led to believe that Blizzard now uses Activions' funds, therefore, if they do something Activision doesn't approve upon, they'll surely step in.

You can always prove me wrong.

Are you saying that the funds from WoW aren't enough to fund Blizzard?
