How is Blizzard's financial success appreciably relevant to you, me, or anyone else who isn't a shareholder?

I am not Blizzard. If Blizzard doesn't put out something I like, they may as well not exist because I'm not going to buy it.

The specifics are irrelevant.

I am just questioning the company's ability to innovate because they have been rehashing the same old stuff for the last 10-15 years. I enjoyed the first Diablo, found the second one bland, and have utterly no interest in the third. I liked Warcraft I & II, but was disappointed with Starcraft because it was essentially a re-skin of Warcraft. I gave WoW a (brief) shot, but there was really nothing to distinguish it from anything else out there.

So yeah, 1997 was pretty much the last time I felt justifiably excited about a Blizzard product and it's been reruns ever since.

I'm interested to see what Blizzard does and would obviously like their next IP to be interesting, but I am not going to assume it's success.

I just find that the recent expansion isn't as great as it was hyped up to be I stopped at lich king cause well it was the same thing over and over again. I'm kinda leaning towards the whole WoW is failing not money wise (cause IMO people are so sucked into it they can't get out of it cause they're attached to their toon, all of their hard work.) but it's starting to fail at the aspect of entertaining people which SHOULD be the main purpose of a game cause it is entertainment after all. To me it looks like it's a kids first job and he was very excited about until time passes by and he's kinda like "eh fun? At work? wuts dat???"

Just my opinion.

Also people still subscribed on the game don't wanna lose their "gear" and "toon" but are still waiting for something new.

Pretty ridiculous in my opinion. I don't care how great the updating/features are, it's not worth $180. That's almost enough for a new generation CPU (2500k) every year. Edit: Actually, Microcenter has the 2500k for $180, so it IS enough.
I can respect that.

But honestly, if you even play for a measly 30 minutes a day on average, you're getting 15 hours of entertainment a month for $1/hour. Compare that to the price of a 2-hour movie ticket, for instance.

Most people play way more than that, too.

Atleast a P2P MMO can last for as long as you want..

Thats why I play MMOs, not exactly WoW tho.
Yes. Correct. You got it. Any game can last as long as you want it to. Battlefield 2 has provided 6 years of great enjoyment. America's Army (a free game) lasted me a good 5 years of great times. Tribes 2 lasted me about 2-3 years and it was $20.

Buy a $50/$60 game (or for $3-$10 on Steam)

Play it until I beat it.

Sell it (retail games) for $20-$30.

Rinse and repeat.

It's amazing how much people hate WoW. I used to play WoW and had to quit because I was starting grad school. I don't have the time to play otherwise I would. I think it is one of the most addictive and fun games ever. If "Titan" or whatever it is going to be called is better than WoW then it will be one of the best games of all time.

That seems rather ignorant. A financially successful game existing affects you positively even if you don't like it yourself, because it spurs other companies to put out games that will compete -- and the best way to compete is to innovate and make an even better game.

Honestly, Blameless, I'm surprised.

what was the last game blizzard made that was original, or innovative, or genre pushing. Never.

They take what has been done over and over and simply polish it up and release it.

i dont expect them to create something that attempting to evolve the genre like guild wars 2, it will be something like rift. Keep with the established. therefore not worth my time. I also expect it to be wowified in terms of graphics, even starcraft and d3 got wowified.

So what if Warcraft and Starcraft were not the first real time strategy games, they are still to this day some of the best. Starcraft II took the original game, with its massive cult following, and "polished" it, making it another phenomenal game that stayed true to the original. There is nothing wrong with that.

Im not sure what youre implying about the graphics in starcraft II either.

Lol I had a good laugh.

You are trolling, right? Regardless of your opinion, Blizzard's titles (all of them) are insanely successful. I personally play SC2 nonstop, and when I'm not playing it I'm watching massive e-sports league that is the GSL in South Korea.

You can call it a rehash or uncreative all you want. Doesn't change the fact that their games consistently break every record there is in every genre they decide to tackle.

Guild Wars evolved the genre? Haha. Alright.
