Problems trying to get a dedicated physx card on Asus M4A79XTD EVO 790X

For some reason my XFX Geforce 8800gts 320mb card gets recognized but my Gigabyte 470 1280mb card doesn't get recognized. My older graphics card is being recognized and the newer card is not. So basically its only seeing one graphics card and that's the older model 8800gts 320mb card. We tried switching the slots but still my motherboard cannot recognize two graphics cards at once and only see the older 8800gts 320mb card.

Nevermind, this sucks I couldn't get it to work but I think I'll leave my 8800gts 320mb in my brothers computer. He has a pretty good medium range gaming computer now.

He is on a Amd Athlon x2 250 3.01ghz, 2 gigs of ddr 2 ram, windows 7 64-bit with the 8800gts 320mb cad. And he can run most of the newer games on medium/high settings on my tested monitor of 1920 resolution. But he isn't even going to be on a good monitor for now. He is still using a crt monitor. So he'll be able to run at high graphics in bulletstorm at like 1280x or whatever the max resolution the crt monitor I had it set at.

Thats my old gaming computer he is on like 2-3 years ago. Alot of ppl on here said its crap, yet it still runs new games at medium/high at 1920 resolution. That probably shows that most games now adays aren't high demanding. I installed bulletstorm on his computer, I'm about to install deadspace 2 on it for him too, though I don't know if he should play the first one before the 2nd one. I'll wait, I'll see what he wants to do when he gets home from working which will be either late friday or early saturday.

Update your bios to the very latest version. Then connect the 470 in the main (blue) 16x pcie slot and the 8800 in the second (white) 8x pcie slot. Then install the latest nvidia drivers and reboot.

You shouldn't need any sli patch/mod as you are not running the cards in sli - but you might need to ensure each card has a monitor connected to it so it is recognised in Windows on boot.

What exactly is physx for? I'm pretty new to the whole building my own PC thing and kept seeing this when researching. Is it extra eye candy or something?

It's nothing too big, I run physx on high in most games but I wanted to get a little better performance out of it on Batman. I think only few games support it, Batman, Mafia 2, Metro 2033*I can't even run physx on this though Metro is high demanding with physx. If you go to youtube you can find videos demonstrating physx in batman, mafia 2, and metro 2033. Yeah, its extra eye candy and since we're pc gamers we crave more.
