case will probably either be

Beta
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146059

GPU is going to be an 8800 my brother has that isn't being used.

Thoughts? suggestions? recommended changes? ect ect? Looking to keep this performance or improve if anything.

If it stays under 500$ that is good too.

I personally think it is a pretty great build for the cost.

Totally open to any suggestions though.

*Edit* it is really something of a general purposes build.

Idealistically lots of room to upgrade, play games, and not "future proof" per say but, having enough power to accomplish any task that may come up and some gaming will most likely occur as well.

1.Ditch the 5 dollar sata cable.(i think it comes with your motherboard)
2.You can save a 20 by getting a cheaper mobo.

your build is ok,you won't have to change much.

last time I built a PC I remember I ended up a sata cable short.

I figured if there was one or two cables left over so be it.

At any rate no glaring problems/incompatibilities?

So far so good?

I built myself a rig about 6 months ago and ended up spending like 250$ more.

But, I build mine for overclocking and my mobo has better heatsinks, I have after market cooler ect ect.

I think cost/performance wise this build delivers a pretty big bang/buck ratio.

Why?

The 955 BE with C3 stepping is only underclocked by .2 ghz.

I can OC that myself even with stock cooling.

Hell MY 955 BE with C3 stepping hits 4ghz stable..

I would not over-clock TOO far on that board. It lacks the proper mosfet cooling. Plus not sure how much it matters, but it only has a 4-pin power connector instead of a 8-pin.

This.

AMD always releases a perfectly fine CPU, then pointlessly releases a 200 mhz faster CPU that is exactly the same for more money.

same thing with 1090t, pointless version is the 1100t.

@ronin.

Believe me I understand how important mosfet cooling is.

My own personal motherboard has all metal coolers instead of plastic.

This rig isn't going to be overclocked.

All I am trying to say is that the 955 I have selected and 965 are the same processor.

They both have C3 stepping.

There is an older 955 with c2 stepping that doesn't oc as well.

Even with poor mosfet cooling .2ghz of an oc isn't that hard and is managable fairly easily.
