Will the GTX 590 drop the price of GTX 580? - Page 3

Tthere is no need for the OP to upgrade if he's running at that resolution. So what if he can't run Rift on maximum? He can just turn it down. As he says, its not worth the $200 and something extra, he can always just overclock his GTX 560, and it can get pretty close to GTX 570 performance with a moderate overclock which isn't too bad. Don't upgrade dude, just save the money for some games or something else.

The driver excuse is getting a little old now, people should just drop it. There really is no need to justify what you bought and why you bought it over the competition, yet people are compelled to. Others however are just fanboys and will throw in the occasional "driver issues" line.

Yea it goes pretty hard on the GPU apparently. Here is a performance review of Rift. CPU was a i5-750 at 3.27Ghz though. Could've been faster. :/

Thread Starter
I've already oc'd my 560ti to 997 core & 2120 mhz. The game does seem to be extremely gpu intensive, everything else in my computer is more than sufficient to run this game at max except for my gpu.

+rep to all of you for your help so far !

I had several issues (ranging from CrossfireX issues, to bugs, glitches and abrupt stops) spanning several games that I do not have now.
There have been nearly 3 times as many AMD/ATI Radeon driver/software issue threads since the 5XXX/GF-100's released.

Nvidia isn't without problems but the driver suite is MUCH more solid and compliant.

At that resolution, if anything you should just get another 560Ti. They are great cards, with superb overclocking capability. Another 560 and you will be set for that resolution!

It comes down to individuals and there are quite a few issues if you look elseware, such as the NVIDIA forums, XS, TPU, etc etc. Not just basing it off OCN. And I couldn't even play CoD4/5 or BC2 on my GTX 470 or any other NVIDIA card for much time before crashing and its fine on the AMD cards. Obviously before anybody gets ideas, i'm just saying it was a single case but since I play those games often, it was kind of annoying. The 570 is also priced pretty nicely in the USA but the pricing elseware really sucks. The early HD 5000 drivers sucked but now its the 6000 series, so no point dwelling on the past. And for the record I had 5770s and 5850s and the most annoying issue I had was the GSODs and vertical lines, and thats about it.

Just be happy with what you've got
not for crysis or metro. in fact, with a 560 you'll be able to max out crysis and a small amount of antialiasing and get nice framerates.

you don't need a 580 until you move to 1920x1080/1200
