ips monitor or 120hz? - Page 6

I wonder if people posting and recommending ips panel have gamed on a 120hz monitor.

I would go with led 120hz monitor.

Couldnt you say the same about people saying to get a 120hz monitor over an IPS screen?

Sadly, most of us dont have the money/deskspace to buy one of each and test them both out....

Yes, it goes both ways, but a majority (90%) are recommending the ips screen, so that is why i brought that group up.

That's because most of OCN probably won't care about 120hz too much while every single OCNer would go at the awesomeness of IPS screens. I'd like 120hz, but I'd rather take IPS over it. I'm willing to bet that most OCNers would.

I'm facing this dilema right now too. I'll propably upgrade my rig around July (either SB or Bulldozer).

Right now I have a crappy Samsung 19'' 931BW 1440x900 which is absolutely terrible for fast paced FPS games. Screen tearing is really bad in BC2 and CSS.

So I don't know if I should go 120Hz or IPS. I'd like to get a nice 1080p panel that would last at least 3~4 years.

My choices would be restricted pretty much between the LG W2363D (only 120hz 1080p monitor avaliable here) and the Dell U2311H (only reasonable priced 23'' IPS I can get), both around the same price point.

What would you guys choose, mainly for gaming (FPS's) and web browsing?

it really depends...

The thing with an IPS screen is that i can see a difference on everything i do, not just gaming, be it looking at photos, websites, etc, i see a marked improvement in image quality from my old 2407...I'm not sure id say the same with a 120hz panel...I've seen a few 120hz panels in the flesh at say, Best Buy, but i havnt gotten to do much on them besides look at a windows desktop, which i admit looks kinda nice, but still...

Thing to keep in mind, and i noticed this, is that going from the 2407 to my 2410, I saw a reduction in screen tearing and motion blur and everything, Its not 120hz but there was a big improvement despite on paper them being equals in response times and etc....
