SB First time build advice

So I am finally getting the money together to build a PC. I recently won a Gigabyte P67A-UD4 Motherboard from funkykit.com with some crazy luck so now I'm trying to put the rest of the system together to have a nice gaming and programming PC (in Comp Eng). This is what I have for my build now. I want to keep the budget to under $1100. Any advice is appreciated.

CPU Core i5 - 2500k
RAM Kingston HyperX 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600

You don't need that much power, a 500W PSU would suit you just fine. A GTX 460 only consumes around 150W at load. Also, if you can find the money for it, I would really recommend upgrading from that GTX 460 768MB to a GTX 460 1GB.

Other than that, it looks great!

Everything looks top notch but definitely consider getting a gtx 460 1gb, if your running at 1080p the extra vram could help you out.

I want the extra juice in case I go SLI. I will look at the 1 GB models for GTX 460 for sure.

Power Consumption:
2x GTX 460 1GB (Overclocked): ~350W
Core i5 2500k @ 5GHz: ~210W
= ~560W

So you still don't need a 750W PSU.

I say get the 750 PSU, it won't make a huge difference efficiency wise, and isn't that much more expensive. If he decides later to upgrade to a more power hungry platform then he has more leeway. You also didn't factor in HDDs or fans. I don't think 200 watts of headroom is terrible tbh.

Anyway, I like your build, I see you still have like 150 left before your max, one thing that stands out is your GPU, if you could snag a gtx560 instead, it would round out your build a lot better (and if you decided you wanted more juice down the road, your PSU would give you plenty of headroom to pick up another 560 for cheep in 6 months or so).

Definitely. This PSU should last me hopefully 2 builds at least.

The suggestion for the 560 Ti is a good option. I highly considered it before, but I was trying to keep my budget down. If I can come across some extra cash, I will definitely change to a 560 Ti. Right now I'm in limbo because I'm waiting for the white 600T and my motherboard to arrive.
