Need help choosing ram

Thread Starter
Hey all, I am wanting to upgrade to 8gigs of ram to help with APB.

At the time of building my PC I didn't know about AMD and 3 sticks and blah blah.

So right now this is the ram I have http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231223

I am only using 2 sticks of it.

If I could I would just buy some g.skill ripjaw 8gigs but my heatsink has just a tiny amount of room with the ram right now.

So I am certain Rip Jaws would stick out to far

I pref g.skill. But if someone knows of some ram that fits the bill. I am down for suggestions.

Thank you for your help!

Buy 1 extra DIMM of cheapest generic memory available
Problem solved for cheap
Or better yet buy a new kit of memory with better speed/timings

Price isn't really a problem. And also, Im not trying to keep my old kit.

Brand new ram (replacing it all) is perfectly fine. I just cant seem to find ram that has a smooth top in 8gig sets.

Every set of G.skill is ripjaw like you posted. And the tops stick out to much to work with my heatsink

2 2x2GB sets of these
$140, low profile, OC awesomely
Just be sure your 965 is C3 revision

Sorry to sound like an idiot. But I'm not sure.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103727

This is my CPU. I'm not sure if it is C3 :3

Also I'm not really skilled or schooled in ANY overclocking. So if that is the main reason for this set. It would be wrong.

But it looks decent. So if it doesn't matter and is still a great set for stock. I'm down for getting them!

^What he said. Eco kits are fantastic, 1600MHz/CL7 at 1.35V...
And that's stock clocks.

Most ECOs can hit 6-8-6-20-24-T1 on 1.6v. Which is fine up to 1.65v.

My CPU box has the HDZ965FBGMBOX number. So I guess everything is in line!

I will toss some money in the bank and buy them tomorrow. Thanks for all the help!
