Duel Monitor Issues (real tired of googling)

Thread Starter
I apologize for wasting yalls time but I have been searching on google for hours now trying to find a solution to my problem =/.

I have duel monitors, I couldnt hook them both up too the back of my video card. So instead I hooked one monitor to the PCI video card, and one to the on-board graphics card. Naturally this did not work, so I had to go back and make my on-board video card the default via BIOS, so now they both work. The problem is now all my games keep crashing, and when right click > properties > settings, it only shows Default Monitor on NVIDIA Geforce 9400 GT and I cant extend my desktop etc... .

Side note:Ultramon shows two screens just not windows

HOPED THIS HELP

1. Might help to Google for "Dual Monitors" instead of "Duel Monitors". When Monitors fight it's never a happy occasion. This may seem like a nit-picking grammar-nazi type of comment but it makes a huge difference in search results.

2. It looks like you are using your 9400GT in SPANNING mode, a feature of Windows XP video drivers which essentially combines two or more displays into a single display. You need to change it from HORIZONTAL SPAN to EXTENDED DESKTOP in the Nvidia Control Panel under Display settings.

3. Most systems have problems when combining an on-board GPU with a PCIe GPU. If your on-board GPU has an option in the CMOS setup for shared memory make sure to disable or set it to the lowest setting possible.

What was the original issue with the 9400GT not being able to do two displays? Only one VGA port or what?

I have tried that and I do apologize for my grammar, and my screens dont show up as one whole screen they are both seperate and I can drag one window of firefox to the other etc... . My orginal problem was that both my monitors were VGAs and my graphics card only had one VGA port. In my Nvidia control panel it only shows this:

So in addition to this VGA DSUB are there any other connections on the back of the card? Like with DVI you could use this:

Should be fine then, mixing monitors across cards can have mixed results and generally is a no no =), more monitors on a single source the better.

Just follow what above poster said.

Most video cards that have a DVI port come with a small dongle that converts it to DSUB if you wish to use it. They are REALLY cheap and not hard to find.

Multi-vid cards that are different running multiple monitors don't work well if at all unless they are designed to run like that. AMD fusion chips for example.
