I lost a good friend this day...

That's right my Steelseries 7G bit the dust.

My Room mate had lent her computer to her Boyfriend and she was using mine to play a bit of Bad Company 2 together and her Boyfriend died so he went over to my desk and knocked my room mate's glass of Coke over my keyboard. Apparently she's kicked him out for a while because she knew how much my 7G meant to me.

To be honest I am annoyed but I think I am more in shock still that my 7G was killed

So it's that time for a new keyboard. I must admit I loved my 7G, I'll still love it no matter and I was even thinking about buying another but then I thought it's time for a change. At the moment I am using a G510 (my room mate gave me her's as an apology, along with her G700 and G930's as she thinks they have to stick together no matter what ) and while it's sort of nice to type on and has a much, much better backspace button, I am using none of the features on it. Such as the LCD is just there for me to check my performance now and then and check the time and the Macros I hardly use them. The Media controls are great, the ability to chose a colour from a spectrum is fun to use, but it's just not bright enough while playing in the dark. But the key selling points the LCD and Macros I am just not using.

So at the moment I am at a loss as to what to buy. I'd like to stick with a Mechanical keyboard, I would love independent media controls like I have on the G510, the illuminated keyboard is a nice feature and great for when I am playing in the dark but they're just not bright enough on the G510, and NKRO is a must in my eyes as I am finding the G510 annoying to use while I play online.

However I don't believe any keyboard exists and I will have to make a compromise. I've heard good things about the BlackWidow Ultimate but I swore I'd never buy a Razer Product ever again. So that kinda ruins that idea, I may just have to buy another 7G by the looks of things or stick to this G510

Any Suggestions for a good gaming keyboard? Thanks

G. Callen

Mate, first of all it sucks about your keyboard, i would cable tied your room mates boyfriend to a chair which was cemented to the ground, and then made him watch you penetrate her infront of him ( just kidding). As for the keyboard i have a Razer Blackwidow Ultimate elite mechanical keyboard, and although its Pricey, it is a beautiful keyboard to use. I too have had a few bad experiences with razer products. However This keyboard is quality through and through. I would recommend this product to anybody.

Thank you windacks for your experience of the Razer BWU. However I am still not sure as my experience with Razer has always been terrible. My Mamba broke, my Deathadder broke, and my Carcharias broke

I think I just have the worst luck with peripherals

EDIT:
On a side note the G930's are pretty amazing especially loving the wirelessness but after a few hours you just want to take them off and they're a little too tight on my head

I would rather like to test out the Roccat Kaves to see how they compare as true 5.1 would sound pretty incredible.

It never stops amazing me how attached we become to our computers. When I accidentally broke my 780i motherboard, I was fairly depressed about it. Not because it was the best motherboard or anything but because I had it so long and it had always been so dependable.

My condolence for your loss.

I would stay away from Razer unless you want to be dissapointed again.
I sold my POS Lycosa before I threw it out of the window.
I'm now waiting on my Das Keyboard to arrive.

I'd go back to the 7G, you could probably sell that one for a decent amount to put towards your new one.
You could always get an U9BL Armor or a Deck.

I only bought the Das because I was lucky enough to get a 20% student discount on it and I don't care about back lighting, hell I even bought the blank version.

Callen, as for headphones mate, I've had my Logitech G35 headset for over a Year now and for 7.1 they are incredible, very comfortable lots of custom stuff you can change and they are solid and reliable. the microphone voice morph software is funny also and the cord is very sturdy.
