yea your right. In my opinion you can't have a card like this and NOT get high temps. I would like to think that this would be one of the last cards like this to draw so much power/heat but I only say that because it seems that the industry is beginning to make a effort to make components that use less power thus don't run as hot. BUT, I'm no expert on what the over industry for this stuff is shooting for.

Dont like it. The price is too high :-/
I was thinking of selling my Tri-fire setup with my 5970 EK block.. But I think im having second thoughts.

Besides, why are we complaining of noise? We're probably going to WC the card anyways.. so theres no room to complain. And power consumption? I believe the majority of us have 750W+ PSU's, starting to see more 850-1000W.

I do like that its the same length as the 5970. I was expecting it to be maybe an inch longer Good to know

I agree tlxxxsracer... anyone who buys this card and doesn't overclock / watercooling it, is very stupid.

Its under 6950 CF's

Its a powerful GPU I'll say that but not for the rest it delivers for the price.

It was fine when ATI had a niche in the area, but 590 I think is going to wipe the floor.

What sort of benchmarks have you been looking at? :/ Its between 6950 and 6970 CF except in a few places where drivers most likely need improvement. The 590 will also be underclocked it depends on by how much, it will be a lot more hot and power hungry. I doubt that card will be too special, either.

Good hardware, bad drivers, hardware does what drivers say, ipso facto, will have another 5970 FIASCO.

I saw a couple that dictated that , I mean thats where it should be if you look at it.

Still not into the price tag, when 5970 came out the 5870's were still 425$, and 5970 was same price tag, but fact you can get 2 6970's or almost 3 6950's for that price ={

I really like the dual bios switch. Thats a very OC friendly feature. Price needs to be closer to $550-600 like the 5970 though. Not surprised that it's hot and loud.

Loving all the 6990 CFers in this thread. We got some high rollers! Don't be surprised when 4 way CFX develops problems and scales a bit poorly. AMD drivers have been known to be iffy like for early 5970. But when it works, oh dear lord. FPS, FPS everywhere.
You know the problem is not that the 6990 runs hot, but that it runs so hot that it overheats during Heaven and shuts off. The problem with the noise is that the GTX 480 was already loud, well guess what this one is even louder (it even beats a vacuum cleaner in terms of noise production). I've never seen a GTX 480 shut off because it was overheating. I doubt the 6990 will have a long life, a waste of the $700 if you ask me (the same will apply to the GTX 590).

6950s in CF won't have those problems. I think it's a no brainer.

What's not to like about HD6990 other than the price? However, its more affordable than 2x6970's and with a BIOS flash and bump in memory speed you're looking at 6970 Xfire.

Well once the 590 comes the price should come down, but this card is just too hot and loud to own. 2 6970s would be better overall.
