No, you don't need to play origins.

not your character cuz you are a whole new person in this game, but you can import your DA:O save which will import all of your decisions from the first games, so it does make some difference.

DA:O is more about the presentation than the story. Playing DA2 first will be fine.

It's not like ME and MEII where MEII is awesome and ME is a chore and boring.
It's the complete opposite. DAI is awesome and amazing while DAII is a phail phish

Agreed. Having played DA2 for about 3 hours now, I have found the whole game can be played by simply tapping the "R" button. YAWN!

lots of enemies? hit the "R" button, you auto attack til they are dead.. oh my! stuff dropped to pick up.. hit the "R" button auto loot is the same key.

DA:O is a much better/epic game. It is extremely good.

DA2 is dumbed down generic version of the first Dragon Age. It is even more console optimized then the first.

DA2 is still a great game, but is nothing compared to the first. We can only hope a DA2 Toolset in the works.

I would get the Ultimate edition of DA:O and play that instead.

But the import feature is jacked and will mess up your decisions.

Stop playing on normal.

I have my DA 2 Signature Edition disc in the box in which it was delivered, sitting on my table, awaiting an email from EA with the return shipping label.

I canceled the order, and tried to cancel the shipment, but it arrived yesterday.

When it is selling for $20, I may pick it up, but from what I have read, that may be a waste of $19.

BTW, DA Origins was a decent game, not great, but enjoyable.
