Increasing Amp Output of a Fan Controller.

I've had difficulty finding information re: what actually is controlling the output, but most of the nice looking Fan controllers I'm encountering have a mere 6-10W output and currently looking at fans that are 0.4A at 12V, so 4.8W Draw.

At the top end I'm planning on doing 3 in series for a 360 RAD, which is a 13.4W Draw which is over what most of the ones I'm looking at are rated for.

Here is my questions,

What will occur when I go over the maximum amp draw?
Is there any way to increase the max amp draw?
I'm fully willing to getto mod heat sinks into this thing as necessary to get the W output per channel around 15-20.

I appreciate any help on the subject, I don't have a ton of experience in this area.

It will get hot and most likely burn out at some point if you exceed the max by any amount, there's no way to increase it without changing components.

Have a look at the Rheobus's and Lamptron's, they're 20-40w per channel.

I understand the concept of changing components, I mean if there is any knowledge of what needs to be changed specifically, the components from my experience looking at them aren't too small, and could easily be replaced by hand.

There is alot of Dial ones I've found I've been through alot of them, I need something with a temp sensor, I have an idea for one I'd use if I can't mod one but I'm looking at that option throughly first.

Ideally thats what I'd like to do but now I'm starting to consider my options x.x Maybe I'll just get a dial version and make it blend with the case, and get a temp sensor separately.

I know some of the homebrew ones I see people make for deltas outputting 60W, use similar components but the variable is the heatsink they need to add =)

I've yet to read anywhere where I can "replace" any components but I definetly have seen some info on heat sinks, just seems to be vary one of one, I don't think its safe to go much higher then the rated though x.x from what I'm gathering =X.... this is getting so much more tedious then I'd like.
