FailWinder x8

Yo, So I've gone through two of these.... I now firmly believe these were made poorly... On both of the mice, the same problem eventually arose. The clicks would start to stick, effectively making micro useless (especially important when you play RTS!!!11). I love calling and getting denied an RMA because "they're made from high quality materials." Anyway, I'm sick of this ****tyass mouse.

Although the workmanship seems to be poor, I do like the look of the mouse.
I'm looking for a new mouse... Need recommendations. I need to have two thumb buttons, and a DPI of at least 3000.

Wireless or wired? I really do enjoy the freedom of a wireless mouse, but I understand there aren't many wireless gaming mice. The Mamba is probably out of my budget. I'd like to keep it around $75. Thanks!!

P.S. If you haven't already guessed it, I'm talking about the Microsoft SideWinder x8.

Sucks about the mouse..they RMA'd my original Sidewinder (same as yours, just wired) with no issues. IIRC I didn't even need a receipt.

As for a new mouse, take a look at the Razer Deathadder. It is a pretty kickass mouse. Another one to look at would be the Cooler Master Sentinel Advanced - I have one and it's really sick.

If you have a palm grip you might want to check out the Ikari Optical.
Its an awesome mouse for the price.
Well, its pretty cheap over here.

i thought it was because mine is black and i heard problems with black fabric mouse pads and bluetrack. i then decided to paint my mousepad a different color.

how my mousepad works. its pretty much just a sheet of glass with very special glass paint on the bottom. the top is acid etched to give it a nice texture for laser mice to track very well. my g9 had amazing tracking on it. my sidewinder x8 however, has TERRIBLE tracking on it. im really not sure why.

so i sanded off the black on the bottom of the mouse pad then i had to rough up the surface of the bottom some with 400 grit wet-or-dry paper so that my rustoleum spray paint could stick. it was 2 hours of light sanding in tight patterns of a 1 inch circle in criss-cross patterns. then i applied the paint and made my own dragon stencil and put a silver dragon logo on it. pics will be here in a sec

this is me starting the sanding job.

almost done removing the paint on the bottom.

all the paint is removed.

basically 2 more hours of sanding in tight criss cross circle patterns and 10 hours of spraying about 12 layers of paint, 3 layers of blue with the dragon stencil then 2 layers of silver, then 3 more layers of blue, then two layers of flat black, then 2 layers of clear coat over the flat black later, i end up with THIS. it was alot of work for no reason.

on my lap.

close up of the dragon.

the sidewinder x8 still tracks TERRIBLY on it, much worse than before even.

thats paint circles with my sidewinder x8 on the glass mouse pad.

paintcircles with the x8 on the desk.

this is the g9 on the glass. this mouse has been torn to crap over the years. the left click button doesnt even work properly, yet it still does WAY better than the x8 which has bluetrack. that being said, i could easily game with the g9 on the glass. it tracks almost as well as the x8 on my desk. keep in mind this is rustoleum paint that i ghetto rigged as last desperate measure. not bad.

this is my g9 on my desk. almost identical to the mousepad.

this shows that the g9 has almost no tracking loss on my mousepad even ghetto painted, yet the terrible bluetrack engine cant even track on it at all.

this is an old pic of my g9 when i had my original paint on the glass mouse pad. its even better than the x8 on the desk.

can anyone tell me WHY this is happening to my x8? i love this mouse but it just WILL NOT WORK on my favorite mousepad and i had to defile the pad in a desperate attempt to get it to work because THERE IS NO OCN CHAT ANYMORE. i would have gotten an answer in 10 seconds on chat yet on the forum, NO ONE REPLIES. figures. you happy mods that i wasted a $40 mousepad cause you deleted chat???

That was over a year ago, and I share any hatred you might pertain to this mouse. That was 10 hours of modding my Experience I-2 Glass mouse pad.

How many times have you tried to perfectly paint glass with rustoleum spray paint? Lol.

lol, yeah i think the mouse was advertised as being able to track on anything. although i havent had tracking problems, we can both relate on how poorly this mouse was designed.

i guess i'll be picking up the deathadder

I reccomend the G9x, G9 for cheap, Tactx. I can tell you right now that the Lachesis is balls.

Those are all quality mice I have personally used, can't say much else for gaming.

I am down to 2.The G9x and the Mionix Naos 5000.I think I will pull the trigger on the Naos tonight.Never heard of it until I started looking at the mouse threads here,I would suggest reading some of them for more info. Here's a code for 15% off at Newegg I got from different thread courtesy of cuad.
