Hey guys just went to Fry's and tried out their mechanical keyboards the Steelseries 7G(Cherry MX Black Switches) and the Siig USB mechanical keyboard(Mechanical Keyboard Guide says it uses the Black Alps Fukkas, but I removed one of the key and it's white).
I tried both and I can honestly say that I am liking the feel of the Black switches on Steelseries 7G compared to the Siig which is clicky. Idk if the Black Alps have the same feel as the MX Blue switches, but if they do then I have a pretty good sense of how they are. I still yet to find out how the MX Brown switches feel, but I am now more leaning towards the MX Black switches.
I know that Steelseries 7G and 6GV2 uses the same MX Black switches and since the 6GV2 is the newer version and has a bigger BS button then It's what I'll get end of the week come payday.
There's really a big difference between the build of a mechanical keyboard to standard keyboard, but I think for me I prefer the MX Black switches now. Idk it's something about how they feel when I type that makes them feel solid and built to last and it's got the bells and whistles that I wanted such as the:
1.) FN Media Keys.
2.) Simple and compact.
3.) Big BS button and close to the layout I wanted(enter key though big doesn't really bother me).
4.) It's heavy and feels sturdy.
5.) 50M cycles
should last me a long time.
Having to play with a demo first before buying is such a comfort and very satisfying.
