also I wanted to ask about the ssd. what advantages would I have over a hdd other than speeding my system up a little? I know they're pretty expensive too. I kind of like having a hdd with a lot of disk space.

You can use the SSD as a boot disk and install the programs/games on the 1TB HDD you have, so you would not run out of room

The only thing I would advise that you upgrade right away is the PSU. You should get something that has decent power delivery, low noise, and good efficiency while also being inexpensive.

I think something like a Antec EA-500 500W would fit the bill quite nicely.

Since now you have all that power, you should get something that'll use some of it. And since you're now spending more time gaming, I think it's time to upgrade your GPU. If you want a GPU that is inexpensive and way higher performing than what you have now, take a look at the Radeon HD 5770. If you want something higher performing but still inexpensive, get a GTX 460 768MB.

Next, you should get a nicer case with more features, a better quality and that looks better. The HEC Blitz Black Case and the Antec Three Hundred Illusion should fit the bill quite nicely.

Any of these cases will accommodate a high-end air cooler, so get yourself a Hyper 212+ and you should have a cooler running CPU and lower noise, not to mention the ability to over-clock (you should be able to get at least 3.6GHz from your 810).

$130-$150 for the GPU + $30 for CPU Cooler + $40-70 for case + $60 for the PSU should put you at anywhere from $260 to $310 for all the parts.

thanx for all the suggestions everybody. I am confused about one thing though. is it possible to oc my 810? almost everything I've seen says you can't oc it because the bios is locked and otherwise it would be very hard. if you know of a way though, I'm down. would love to oc this pc instead of buying a new cpu.

it looks like your motherboard is a gateway ? if it is, yes the bios are locked. upgrading the cpu would be a small gain pain in the ass. upgrading the mo-bo to an unlocked bios board to use your ddr2 would be a waste.
im only saying a waste because you would need/want a better psu right away. 300 watt wont cut the mustard. your stock heatsink needs replaced. the board would need replaced to use ddr3 later when you reach the limits of that board. that wont take long on stock cooling.

the question is, do you want a good or great video card right now ? are you happy with the entire computer performance if you buy a new card now?
buy a better psu and the rest on a graphics card until you can replace the board/ram/cpu

forget all these people with the ssd offers. do you turn your pc off every night ? windows on an ssd loads in less than 10 seconds. you can buy a good pair of 10,000rpm velociraptors and raid them. it wont be as fast but its a lot more room and will be noticably faster than the 7200rpm 1tb you have now. or spend $70 at newegg or 2 120g drives and raid them.
W.o.W. is the only game i've heard of that would benefit from an ssd.

your money. better graphics now? a little better performance now? all new and totally better later ?

Raptors will never match any decent ssd due to the seek time being insanely higher. You will notice way more responsiveness from buying a ssd than anything else. If you think about it this makes sense because the slowest part of a pc has for a little while been the hard drive.

Really though, I'll post a a video of how fast I can open a bunch of programs. And this is on a really junked up computer that needs a reinstall... I'll post again when I get the video on youtube.

other than loading windows and the areas/maps/levels on WoW, tell me what actual use it has? a place you will actually notice the performance for the price? especially seeing that its $70 for 16g?

what's up pc-illiterate? thanx for the advice. I'm not really sure what to do. would love to replace everything that you have suggested but not sure about spending so much on my pc right now. what is a velociraptor? is it a fast hdd? I'm definitely leaning to get a psu first since mine is only 300w. would love to do a ram/mobo/cpu combo if I could find something reasonable. do you have a few suggestions? kind of wish I had a list of options what I could and should get. not sure with all the parts how to mix and match, or what goes with what. it also sounds like if I'm going to upgrade I should get a new pc case. I totally love the Rosewill challenger and I also like the Rosewill cruiser very much. I'm here for everybody's advice so my ears are open.
