^^^ amen

i like with all the rage about their failed MP demo the big resolution was to change "start" to "enter" dont worry about dx11 guys. not a port i swear.

i dont understand why ANY game would remove ping numbers? i find it annoying playing in games that dont have it ;\\

Well this game is just a huge PoS. So I don't know which one I am waiting for now,
cos I prefer shooters as opposed to some driving PoS Battlefield games ...

So, when is the second patch coming out ?

- the one that replaces "adjust settings on your TV" in the brightness menu with "adjust settings on your monitor", or to be agnostic and more correct: "adjust settings on your display (applies to both, in case you play in an HTPC);

- the one that grays out the aim assist when a controller is not connected, or says it only applies to controllers (some people think this is obvious and not needing of a patch, but may I remind those people that games like Half-Life 2 have aim assist in easy mode, so it's not common sense as some ignorant people say);

- the one that lets you turn off motion blur that gets so many people nauseated;
- the one that lets you turn off bloom;

- the one that basically lets you chose the graphical settings you want, taking into consideration this is supposed to be a PC game (does anybody remember the PC game Singularity ? No ? It is a very nice game, although it's a game on rails, but it is a console port and you can see it in the basic options, just like in this Crysis 2 Demo, and in the textures detail. Singularity is a good game with some good concepts. But nobody remembers it. Does Crytek want Crysis 2 to go the same way ?)

- the one that does not have a stactic skybox (not even Crysis in DX9 has a stactic skybox, unless you run everything in Low - you just have to set the shaders to medium (leave everything else in low), for the static skybox to dissapear;

- the one that has better water than Half-Life 2: Lost Coast (which came out in 2005);

-Oh, I didn't even mention DX11, but that is not coming now. When Crytek applies the verb in the future: "Crysis 2 will support DX11, but we will talk about that later" it is evident it does not have it at launch, at least it's not enabled in the printed discs that are in the warehouses by now, ready to be shipped to stores.

With all the negative reactions (How on earth didn't they see it coming ?) They are probably now trying to get DX11 to work at launch and have a huge DX11 patch for people to download when it launches.

12 people on CSS is more than enough. Any more, and it will be a CRAPload of a spamfest. Nothanks.

One reason for why I quit playing some games. Too many players on each server, or the server is empty.

32 people crammed into a small map SUCKS. You need a little balance, a little peace, a little chance of sneaking up on someone.

32 players is only okay with games like BC2, or 64 on BF2.

Also, to the people complaining about dx9, please go complain somewhere else. The graphics engine does NOT make the graphics. Ever seen the tweaked DX9 version of crysis? Comes pretty close to the DX10 one. DX9 may be old, but it can achieve great things.

Besides, this is the PC gaming community. We SHOULD care about gameplay more than graphics. However, I see that my assumption was incorrect. Some people will only complain about "Boohoo DX9!!!" You would NOT be able to know what graphics engine it is if you just saw images and were told nothing.

You know, the main problem with sound is 8 channel sound (before this patch), I set mine to 6 channel and it worked beautifully.

Of course, that may no longer be necessary with the patch.

I agree with the number of players. The optimal number all depends on how the maps are designed and how big they are.

However, I don't agree with the graphical options. You have a point in comparing DX9 to DX10, but now we already have the feature set of DX10, DX10.1 and DX11.

If you code it right, DX11 will be VERY noticeable. Just because DX9 is good enough, that does not mean we are supposed to get stuck in the DX9 era.

I love Half-Life 2, the graphics don't look dated like the original Half-Life, where I find myself playing a good game, but don't feel inside the game, because the graphics quality doesnt allow to build that kind of atmosphere (except in the last levels where it gets pretyy good); with Half-Life 2 I can get "inside" the game, because the graphics and storyline make it seem real enough.

Are you are right about gameplay, when you consider that Portal 2 is probably going to be in DX9 and you don't see anybody asking that question or even worried, it's all because we know Valve puts a lot of care in the story and the level design. The game is going to be great because of that. And they are pretty inovative with the graphics too, but they have a strong story and gameplay to go with it; that is why it's soo good; it all works together.

Crysis on the other hand put the graphical stakes too high and made a reputation out of it. The story was not very interesting and the character acting was not very inspiring either. The gameplay was good, sure, but so are many other shooters.

If Crytek really has a wonderful story now and wants to be taken seriously this time and steer people a little away from the wonderful graphics that made them famous, it takes a lot of effort on their part to transform people's opinion on what was a great graphics /so-so story franchise into something else, then they shouldn't have released a multiplayer demo; that doesn't tell a story at all and really doesn't show much of the long-term gameplay you should expect in-game.

Do you see where they failed miserably ? They didn't deliver the goods in any of the important places: they didn't prove they have a good story and a good storytelling this time, and they didn't prove they have great graphics either; so they don't win anything and lost both.

Let's see if the final game corrects either one of those or both aspects. For now, with the demo, PC gamers have every reason to be disapointed. It's not the demo itself which is kind of fun (but so are many other shooters), it's what we expect from Crytek, and what we expect from other quality publishers.
