Are mechanical keyboards better for gaming ? - Page 2

If you're looking for a light key press, then MX Browns are up your alley. I recently picked up a Das S and each stroke is hyper-light and crisp. Mechanical switches are much more responsive than rubber domes and reset consistently and quickly, which is a big improvement from my previous keyboard which got sticky when gaming with rapid button presses.

So it looks like the consensus is that MX Browns are the best for gaming? Is this correct?

I believe i have mx-blues (silly of me to forget)
I don't Know if i gotten used to it but aside from the clicky sounds they're great! they're certainly easier to press. They feel "responsive" the way you described it. although to be honest i don't know how much it has helped in gaming i mean its not like you need to actually be typing to play. its usually just holding on to a key for periods of time and the here and there pressing of the R C and Shift so yea .
My advise; try it for yourself if you can

I hear mechs are amazing for RTS and MMOs.
I have a Das on the way right now and I'll let you know how it performs in my FPS games.
I'm currently using a Razer Lycosa, it's going to take a while to get used to it as they are worlds apart.

I am really close to ordering either a Das, Blackwiddow, or Ducky but I can't make up my mind if its worth it or not coming from a decent non mech gaming keyboard.

"better" is very subjective
It's really a matter of personal opinion. Experiment, try different boards and find what you like best.

If you go into a store like Best Buy where they have them on display you can mash on some steel series with cherry blacks or a blackwidow with blues, and compare them side by side with rubber domes/scissors.

Thats the real problem..... No one has em around here. I was lucky enough to get to play with a black widow a friend bought but I never got to use it hooked up to a PC I just got to play with it when he brought it to work to show me. I did like it but IDK if I would like to use it for gaming or not.

The good thing about the current mechanical keyboard craze is that if you buy one and you don't like it you'll be able to resell without difficulty. Just make sure to hold on to the original packaging/warranty for maximum resale value.
