[Geek] The Sony Vaio S is the first Sandy Bridge laptop with 15 hour battery life

If you love the footprint of Apple’s redesigned MacBook Airs but need all-day battery life, Sony’s got a new Vaio up its sleeves for you… as long as you’re willing to compromise on thickness a bit.

Deemed the Sony Vaio S, the latest addition to the Vaio line boasts a 13.3-inch display running at a resolution of 1366 x 768, which is actually a little disappointing, given the 1440 x 900 pixel display you get as stock in the 13-inch MacBook Air. That said, the Vaio S doesn’t skimp much in other regards, starting at the case design: a thin profile represented by a wedge of magnesium alloy a little under an inch thick.

Freaking nice!

Looks like a solid laptop but the price is just unreasonable. Sony laptops have always been overpriced IMO, this doesn't seem to be an exception unfortunately.

Is that 15 hours of a fully dimmed, blue colored, static desktop with no icons?

Sony is the crappy apple of the PC world :/

Like the MacBook Air, the Vaio S can be fitted with a 256GB SSD — an option we’d recommend for blistering performance and long battery life —
an option they recommend? The person who wrote this must be insane. The option from sony for a 256gb SSD is +$830.... Almost the price of the laptop....

Bringing the price up to $1800 for 256 ssd in the BASE model.

Ridiculous; and a bad write up.

Very nice actually, i am/will be in the market for something just like this in the next 3-6 months.

I actually like how it looks which is a rarity for me as far as Sony laptops are concerned, quite a bit more powerful then a MacBook Air which is nice.

The only downsides i can see are the screen, would rather have a higher resolution display, the trackpad, would much rather have a button less glass trackpad and of course the price, 2300$ + tax for the almost fully loaded option (don't need a blu ray burner)

Might consider this.

Its 7.5 hours on internal battery NOT 15. Kind of like Envy with slice battery. 7.5 is more than enough though. Impressive!

I would never buy a Sony laptop when there are Lenovo laptops that are far superior in every way.
