one or the other

I've been trying to decide what card I should go with thats under the $100 mark

so far it looks like a 4850 or a 5670 but ultimately I can't make up my mind as to which one would provide the biggest performance increase as well as being a good card for overclocking.

If it comes to it I may just get myself a 5770 but I really don't want to spend that much money on it.

Go with the 4850 unless you want newer features - if you wanted to stretch some, there are a lot of GT450's that come to almost $100 after mail in rebate, it will be much stronger than either card

Go with a 5770 instead if you can afford the few extra dollars. The 5670 is a a bit faster in performance than a 8800 and the 4850 is equivalent to a 5750.

Side notes:
GTS 450 is slower than a 5770.
a Radeon HD 4830 is faster than the 5670.

I'm thinking I may just do the 5770, thank you all for your very useful comments.

They trade blow for blow - http://www.guruht.com/2010/09/radeon...ts-450-vs.html depending on the game, nvidia doesn't lock down voltage or limit the overclocking so you can often go much higher % overclocking vs. 5770, but its all just a matter of opinion you can even grab a gigabyte one (which are excellent overclockers) for $97 open box! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16814125342R

yeah, agree with going for GIGABYTE's 5770, it's an excellent overclocker and costs you not too much money.

Well due to my money situation, I have gone with a gigabyte 5670, got one for my little bro and it does perform pretty good so I think I'll be happy with.

We've already done some overclocking on that card and it seems like it can be pushed pretty far. I think it will suffice just fine.
