Help me find a new laptop? - Page 4

They are fairly good laptops, but their support is pretty bad. It's right down there with Toshiba as far as lack of support,.

Well I shouldn't need to take it in if I do it'll be to have Best Buy replace it (what usually happens I do like their warranty lmao)

Anyways what does everyone think about this samsung?
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung+...0i7&cp=1&lp=14

It's light enough. The only concerns I have are the 750GB 5400rpm HDD (ideally it should be 7200rpm for encoding video and editing photos/videos), and maybe the GFX card (for the little gaming I do; nothing like Crysis mind you, photo and video manip and folding when on but not in use), everything else sounds pretty good to me + I might be able to get a better price on it.

All comments are appreciated ^v^

525m isnt a very good card. It's weaker then a 540m which is available on the np5160 for $800. Also the res is pretty bad for a $1.1k laptop Unless you get over $400 off its a rip off.

This is the laptop I have for school and TBH it is a beast. I love it, yeah at almost 8lbs it is a tad heavier than you want but honestly it is a great laptop. I picked mine up at compusa for 1199 on sale a while back and never looked back. Plus ASUS has one of the best warranties around, espically when you consider the free one year accidental that comes standard with it.

It may be a good laptop, but at 1.1k you could get the new sandybridge 2630qm, a 1920x1080 screen and a few other things that are better for the same price by going with a sager 8130 :x

Being heavier is actually a good thing. That means that the chassis is stronger which tends to result in an overall better quality laptop. The lightweights (especially the super lightweights), although they may be nicer to lug around just aren't sturdy enough to last when you do move them around a lot, which ironically enough is the only reason to buy a lightweight laptop.

There is supposed to have been a SB refresh to it here recently, though I am not sure if it is available yet. I probably should have waited but oh well I didn't. Also I don't know/or think Sager's warranty is as good as ASUS's, though I am sure it is a stellar laptop. With the sager for a warranty that is is similar to ASUS's it will cost a extra 200 dollars, which IMO isn't worth it for the SB proc. Also the G53JW has a 1080 screen and they come with Scorpio black HDD's.

I consder superlight to be 4 pounds or less. 5.5 pounds or so is average I'd say.

the np5160 is an i5 and 320GB for that price also not the best screen. 1060 is the price I get once customized.
