In my opinion, wormholes are more likely for space travel.
there is no other way to travel fast enough to get any where.

One problem, how the hell do we Steer a wormhole. or even know whats on the other side.

the one thing that is more important than extra terrestrial life is understanding what dark mater and dark energy is.

There's more dark matter in a galaxy then regular matter, and even more dark energy.

Thats not supposed to happen for like 4.5 billion years right? I'm okay with not worrying about that until we get closer to that time.

Also, if we actually survive as a race long enough for that to affect us we will probably have branched out from our solar system anyway.

We are in the year 2011 and we've barely explored our closest planets and stars. We need to start understanding space and the planets and stars and how to harness mass power and energy from these things and use them to advance our species.
You sir, are an idiot... You can't even compare or measure our intelligence level without something to compare it too. We could be (low chance) the smartest and most developed race in the entire galaxy... not to mention that humans are relativity new when comparing it to how long the galaxy has been around. Also there is no definitive "Where we should be at" at this age because once again, we have nothing to compare too. Stop watching your syfy shows and movies as if they are what humans should be.

Whats the point of searching for life somewhere else? What would that do for our dying world? Rather do something useful to save the world dumb spacemonkeys...

Notwithstanding the mass extinction we are currently in the midst of, our world isn't really dying.

Searching out and studying examples of life elsewhere in the universe could provide all sorts of insight to our own origins, current state of existence, and future potential.

Also, if no one ever looked for anything until they were convinced it would be of immediate use, little progress would ever have been made. We currently take much for granted that was once completely undreamed of. Progress is just as much, if not more, incidental and codependent than it is goal driven. Necessity may be the mother of invention, but wonder and incidental discovery through exploration provide the raw materials.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with out planet at all. It is just going through its natural cycle, as it always does.

IMO more effort should be put into mars and the possibilities of terraforming.

Ok, well I guess everybody has their own opinion about all this, so there's no point in arguing about it.

It depends what it can offer to us.
Life forms that have strong resistance to the elements can be used to make medicine, some types of algee can make fuel at a decent rate.

Surely you guys are more open mined then thinking that life elsewhere has no rewards for us.

And if we found Sentient life we could Enslave them and make a personal army all for ME....

Can you feel that... Shhhhhh...listen... Thats...THATS...
THATS THE SOUND OF POWER!!!!!
