Surely you guys are more open mined then thinking that life elsewhere has no rewards for us.

And if we found Sentient life we could Enslave them and make a personal army all for ME....

Can you feel that... Shhhhhh...listen... Thats...THATS...
THATS THE SOUND OF POWER!!!!!

100,000,000, little spore Creatures running in hamster wheels will fix California's Energy Crisis.

People riot at the thought of genetically modified pork ribs, what do you think will happen when they are asked about alien organisms? Assuming that life could possibly survive in earth conditions.

That is idiotic.

Anyone whom thinks that terraforming is remotely viable within the next 150 years is delusional.

It took us 20 years to build the ISS. A little over 10 years to build Ares (which is now cancelled).

How the hell do you propose we terraform mars? We don't even have a rocket that can make it to the moon, and the private industries solutions are pathetic. It would be better to just continue flying the space shuttles.

No offense, but your opinion and two nickels aren't worth anything.

Fact is that we aren't in a natural cycle. This past cycle has been a few times worse then any other cycle. Are you that dense to think its merely a coincidence?

Conservation of energy you guys!!!

If we start burning craploads of fuel and pour craploads of carbon out of our exhaust pipes guess where it goes?!? Into the air!!!

What? Do you actually think that once it leaves your exhaust a fairy comes around and whisks it away to never ever land?

Anyone that thinks that we are not affecting the world around us is delusional. Its called science people,

What makes people think other life forms would want to help us. If there is a more intelligent and advanced race out there don't you think they would have bothered contacting us? They won't because we have nothing to offer them.

If Frogs in our Rain-forest can be potentially used to cure cancers, then surely we have some use to a Alien life form.

It could be anything from Our DNA to Tacos. I know I love me some Tacos.
If we found a Bacteria that was resistant to extreme conditions, maybe we could use it to create Bio-fuels on other planets. I know that's not so beneficial to earth, but it would be great for a space station. The possibilities are complicated but endless.

We have to reach Warp 1 before they will contact us. Duh.

Frankly, there's no excuse for NASA's lack of funding.

While I understand that searching for life would be relatively cheap, I think it's also a relatively fruitless endeavor. I would rather we properly explore our neighborhood than just turn NASA into SETI.
we could cut down the defense budget but that would mean that countries like japan, germany, and such other countries that have american military bases inside them would have to spend more money on their defense which means less money towards their space agency. lol
