To be fair, I have the same cooler as OP and I hit 4.1 on air at 1.475v on an unlocked 555. These chips can vary quite a lot.

I hit 4.0ghz stable (200x 20.0) 1.45v, NB @ 2600mhz 1.30v, runs perfectly fine, HT at default 2000mhz
post #15 of 21
Definitely bump your CPU/NB up to 2600MHz, even if it doesn't give you a stable 4GHz (which it could), you'll still get a big performance boost from that alone.

What am I doing wrong? It crashes at about 4 minutes into prime, no matter what voltage I use on the CPU.

Heres the settings:

Hmm, i was on the same conquest as you bro (except i kinda gave up awhile ago lol).

Anyways, Try using the LoadLineCalibration setting. First look at the voltage you have in the Bios, Load up CPU-z and check what voltage it reports during stressing

Sometimes your CPu will get less voltage than what you set in he bios leading to instability. Just a noob's answer to another noob lol. I'm sure some pro's will help you out soon. I really thing that Cooler of your's should do the job though.

By setting your CPU-NB at 2.6ghz you have no idea if its that crashing your system or your CPU OC.

I suggest you use the ASUS overclocking software; google for the "unleash the dragon AMD overclocking guide" for what I think is the best AMD OC guide. It has a good guide for testing the CPU-NB.

Are you using a C2 or C3 chip?

Ive got it at 1.5v and it seems stable at 19.5x multiplier (3900 hmz) but hw monitor records the highest voltage as 1.42. Any higher on the multiplier and it crashes. Seems like the voltage isnt reported well.

Its a c3 stepping.
