Effective Memory clock: 1200Mhz (4.8GBPS)
Memory Size: 2gb
Memory Interface: 256-bit
GDDR5
Dx11

Every card is different. I had a gtx 480 that could go 830 core stock voltage, but when I got another one, it could only do 780 stock. I've seen people get about 1000mhz core on water cooling with their 5870. I'm guessing somewhere in the 900s.

Anything from 900 to 1ghz shows only a few FPS gains (with the 5870), if you can get to 900 then I wouldn't personally push it any further as performance gains aren't going to be massive. So is it worth the risk?

I would download Furmark(To stress it a little and see if you're overclock is giving you Artifacts or if its stable) and just try and keep the Voltage under 1.275 in MSI AfterBurner, if you're going to increase the Core Voltage that is. Usually people on 5870's can go anywhere from 900-1GHz, taking that from my own 5870 and looking at signatures, but each card is different you just got to play with it and see. I'd personally try and aim in the area of 950/1250 or 1GHz/1300 if at all Possible. As long as you keep the Voltage around 1.25 or so anything you achieve stable I think you'll be very content..

Agreed. Just max out the core to 900 and memory to 1300 and call it a day. They can EASILY handle that. Then once you get more comfortable with OCing and do hours and hours of research you can flash a new BIOS to the card that will allow you to go higher with it.

900/1300MHz... mine hit it just fine, runs it stable with no noticeable temperature increase over stock settings. My card idles at 29-31C and the highest I have seen it hit was 65C running Furmark stress tests (and that is with it sitting right on top of my XFX 9800GTX that I am using for physX). I am sure the card will be stable running faster clocks, but it would not be worth it like previous posters have stated.

Alright, Thanks alot guys! However, I forgot to mention that I do get blue screen of deaths' pretty often. By often, I mean atleast once a week. I don't know what's wrong. My CPU is stable and so is my RAM for a fact. I think it might've been my GPU. However, Does anybody know how I can find out what it is? Anywho, Yeah, for the 5870 sapphire 2gb, max is 900. I don't want to burn my card or burn my power supply out. hehe. If you guys got any idea let me know! please and thank you!
