CPU volt-mod for HP nc6400 needed Datasheet included

post #1 of 7
Thread Starter
Hi I'm new to the forum and i would like to say it is awesome .

Anyway i have a little problem, until now i have successfully undervolted a lot of laptop-s the software way, but since I'm recently planing to go linux-way my soft mod is not going to work anymore(i'we seen that there is some way to do it under linux but i like the robust secure way better).
I need to somehow lower the voltage for my CPU so that no mater what os I'm on it will stay cool.

I've attached the data-sheet pages that i think are of importance(since the original file is above 1mb), so if someone could tell me where do i need to solder a resistor i would be very grateful, also i can provide pics of the mobo, just tell me what part do you need.

Thanks in advance

Ok, will get my digital cam fast.
Set FSB doesn't work, actually didn't try it because the clkgen was not in the supported list, the author was also asking for the datasheet of the clkgen which i didn't had.

@CL3P20
Are you sure for that pin, how much of a resistance should i put in there(couple of Kohm or 100-200 ohm, because i must buy the potmet first)???

You need to trace pin10 to a resistor, and measure its resistance to ground.
(r * 20) = pot size required for mod

From the schematics it says that it's directly connected to PR182 and PR184, should i measure the resistance to gnd from the side that is connected to pin10 or the other side???

Is there a way to know the resistance of the resistors from the schematics, it would help to locate the resistors? Because i can't track the connection on the PCB.
