I'm not a huge fan of tracking cookies, but if I get ads for things that I might actually be interested in, instead of completely random crap, then that's a bonus. And if it helps support the websites I visit that much more, then that's a bonus as well.

You all need to think about the consequences of these things before you jump on the bandwagon. I guess I'm just not as paranoid about some things as many of you seem to be, and I like supporting free websites like OCN.
You're a far more ethical man than I am.

And yet, from the lack of an overclocked account, it appears you have not.

You've got that the wrong way round, unless you're saying you are for pushing as much advertisement down people's throats as possible.

I really don't mind banner ads, as long as they don't drop down just because I accidently mouse over them.

Ads help pay for a lot of my favorite free sites that I regularly visit. A few of them I frequent enough that I wouldn't mind too much paying a sub for them but if they became sub based, I would suspect that those sites would end up loosing contributors because there are a lot of people that don't care to pay for a sub.

Those ads also help pay for those sites that I don't frequent and am just there looking for the one specific piece of info and I'll probably not ever go back there again unless the search engine lists them in my query.

What I don't like tracking stuff. I don't want ad people putting stuff on my PC tracking the stuff I'm looking at just so they can tailor their ads. Ads don't influence me like the advertisers hope they would and I ignore them anyway just like TV ads.

I also don't like the underhanded tactics of redirecting my browser and locking it to their page or any of those othere tactics. I've clicked on a link once and the browser went through a few pages without my consent. I tried to use the back button and a text came up "We suggest you visit two more sites." I tried to close out my browser and the same text came up. This kind of bull is what I don't like about web advertisement and this kind of stuff is what I want to have stopped.

Ok, what does gel electrophoresis have to do with anything.

I don't really need it. The ads never show up anyways. <3 Ad Block Plus.

I'd rather contribute directly to a site than put up with ads. Or even a small subcription like 50c per month.

Ads can GTHO
