I'd like a home file server, even something with a dual core Atom or something, just for backups and so on. But whilst the core hardware wouldn't be expensive, the terabytes I would want to stuff inside it would be, and I'd rather just spend a bit more on my PC

for backups a ATOM is fine, but for transcoding its slow
thats why i'm upgrading
i can sell you mine with 4GB DDR2 RAM when i have my new hardware to upgrade

If I got a home server, I'd probably only use it for backups and the like. But saying that, I'd probably end up wanting more power anyway, because such is life.
