Is tht okay to do tht or will it cause heating issues and 2.) Would it even fit, i know tht technically speaking theres a slot between the two gfx cards free but it just seems as if it would not fit

As long as they're not triple slot cards, or a full length sound card.

You can see in my pic that my X-Fi does not block the airflow to the top 5870.

Hey guys. I have a p8p67 deluxe mobo and am using a single slot xfx 5750 card in the top blue pciex16. This is a recording studio computer (I play the occasional game) so I use multiple pciex1 cards for audio. I would like to use the video card in the middle grey slot for to provide better airflow and so I dont have to worry about my pcie audio cards being next to a hot video card. ASUS recommends using the blue slot for single vga for better performance. Why? and will I really be sacrificing any noticeable performance by using it in that middle slot? Thanks

My card won't output a signal when installed in the grey slot, will yours?
AS long as the top slot isn't occupied you'll still be getting the full 16x from the grey slot.

Just give it shot and see what happens.
