The Phenom II x6 was the fastest integer cruncher aside from the i7 980 until the new lineup of i7s were released. The x6 was the same, if not cheaper, than any i7 it was suppose to be compete with.

However, integer performance isn't everything. And the architectures are too diffierent, meaning that programmers can easily have one CPU outperform the other regardless of their true performance.

It wan't even close to being the fastest in clock-for-clock, thread-for-thread benches, which are the only ones I care for since I very rarely use especially multi-threaded applications.
