Thread Starter
I'm new to over clocking and AMD chips. I have a Phenom X2 555 be unlocked to four cores. I wanted to know what the max CPU temp is before I start trying to OC it.

i personally do not know this for a fact, but i've read 62*c. coretemp tells me that 99*c is the max, but i would never let my cpu get anywhere near that hot.

62C max, we recommend 55 or below but that's not absolutely necessary
I run at 58C load

Thanks for the quick replys. I think I'm going to put on a CM 212+ before I start over clocking to be safe.

If it's unlocked then you need to be especially careful. The TDP jumps from 80w to 125w when you do this. So you need to find a good cooler for pushing it a bit further.

Agreed, with the stock cooler you will jump a lot closer to the limits of it

My 555 when unlocked to 3 cores, shows 160w for all three cores.. is this normal? I know this is a bit off the subject, but since were talking about wattage...

no that doesn't seem normal...what voltage are you running it at? Or have you even touched that?
