Black Ops Freezing

Thread Starter

EDIT 3/26: alright so I reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled drivers and such and the freezing still didnt go away. so what else could be wrong? NB or ram? how can i test them?

Alright so basically I'm getting these weird freezes in Black Ops and other games(cod4, WoW, Red Faction, etc.) I can be playing one seconds and then it will randomly just freeze up and I have to ctrl-alt-del and than press esc to get back in(pretty much exit the game some how and come back in). My computer has always done this and I have tryed this with 3 video cards. The first one was when I first built my computer with a 5770 which I returned because I thought that was the culprit. I than obtained a used 8800 which did the same thing and artifacted tons! After that i settled in with a gts 275 and pretty much gave up. in CoD4 it wasnt too bad because I could get back in game much faster but with black ops the wait is unbearable and it has happened many times in matches which is starting to become a problem.

So what I am wondering is what could be the culprit? could it be drivers(maybe I didn't uninstall correctly?), the mobo, ram, cpu?

I have made posts before but none have really resolved it and tend to die out.

To give you a clear idea of what is going on I made a short video It is probably not the most necessary thing but hopefully it'll help.

When it is frozen in the video I am ctrl-alt-deleting out of game, pressing esc, and waiting for the game to come back. Sometimes it can also freeze up with sort of a tint over all of the game(more so in cod4) and it can also freeze up with colors all over the screen which I am unsure if it is artifacting or not. The only time it has artifacted alone was once after it froze up and just a few barrels were a weird black color.

Sorry for the lengthy post and I am even more sorry for not using good grammar
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Could be the drivers; do check the RAM though

The game is crap, don't bother fixing it. It will find another thing to crash after you fix this one. The game is crapy.

G.T.F.O. your not helping anyone, he listed multiple games. Sure the game might suck but that is not the sole reason he is experiencing problems.

How olds your OS install man?

I just got some frizzes in Crysis 2.

What helped me is lower my oc on GPU by 50 MHz and 0.025v voltage and increase the fan speeds
It may be the north bridge that gets to hot and when it does the memory stop working so check that out.
