Thinking about the AX1200

What are your guys thoughts on the AX1200?

I'm planning on getting another HD6970 and the PSU which I'm using right now is not worth mentioning so im going to upgrade. Question is what should I get?

Apart from the PSU being fully modular I would also like to have some headroom for expansion as this build will continue to change.

Thanks for the help.

I am pretty sure an HX850 will do fine. If you want total peace of mind, HX1000 is like max you should go. HX1000 would still be a little overkill.

Thank you for the quick response everyone.

I did not originally plan on such a large power supply but the newegg power supply calculator showed 1017w. I looked at the HX1000 and liked that one as well however the AX1200 cables looked much nicer lol. Its silly i know but I'm slowly trying to work towards a certain look for this comp.

It also might be important to note that I will be adding a full EK liquid cooling system and from what I have read ill need some extra power for the pump.

Are you sure that an HX850 would do it? I'm just fearful of having to upgrade again sometime soon if i go lower that's all. Big plans tight budget lol

850 would be perfect im on the 980x with 3 gpu's on a 1000watt supply and water cooling no issues

Don't know about the Watercooling but Neweggs psu calculator is one the worst. They are all bad, that just happens to be the worst. You can sustain two 580s on a 850w so yes you will be fine.

I was afraid that was the case. Thanks for the heads up.

HX1000 is much too expensive for what you get, and it's overkill. A good quality 650/750w would be more then enough, Seasonic and Corsair's AX series sell fully-modular models. But the AX1200 is overkill even if you got a third 6970.
