Thread Starter
Just been over to overclockers uk and they have the new b3 revision boards for sale. Is it the same all over? why are they charging more for a board that should have been fine to begin with!! on one particular board it's £30 MORE!

At the end of the day it seems WE are paying for intels screw up

To be honest, I wouldnt blame boardmakers/intel since i doubt its their fault

I honestly feel its the stores marking them up to take advantage of the higher demand created by the shortage, its called price gouging, it sucks but most retailers out there do it....

We're not really paying for intels screwup from my perspective, we're paying for greed

From what i can see they have kept the price of the previous 1155 boards the same and raised the price of the new b3 stepping instead of lowering the old boards price and placing the b3's price at the usual rate. A £30 price premium is taking the pish tbh, last time i shop at overclockers

Maybe they ended up with a big stock of the old ones and they're trying to clear it out

But regardless, i agree, dislike the prices, shop somewhere else

Why not just buy an old motherboard and RMA it? Saves you £30 and you get your way too

Well, Microcenter for example sold the ASUS P8P67-Pro for $229 for the first weekend they had it back in stock. As soon as that weekend was over they dropped it to $189.99. Which I think is about $10 higher than it's original non-B3 version.

There's a thread over @ overclockers forum about this, Ocuk claim the price hike is due to intels extra cost of repair which is passed down to the customer.

Thanks intel i love you

It's not the consumers fault that intel manufactured a defective chipset. Consumers dealt with the release boards being faulty. Now they have to deal with a small price hike in return of intel fixing the problem. I just bought a B3 board but, I shouldn't have to pay a small premium for it to work as it should have initially.
