Which mouse/mouse pad to prevent carpal tunnel syndrome?

I just had carpal tunnel release surgery Monday on my left hand. I have no signs of it in my right hand yet so I'm hoping to prevent it for as long as possible.

I'm looking for a new mouse and/or mouse pad. With my current mouse and mouse pad, my hand is bent slightly backwards at the wrist. I'm thinking a mouse pad with something to rest my wrist on and keep it straight would be what I need.

I'm wanting a new mouse too. I currently use a Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse 3000. I'm looking for a good mouse for gaming, but it needs to be a little bigger than my current one. I have big hands and I'd like to get a mouse that fills in the palm of my hand a little more. I'd also like to have one that is heavier than the Comfort 3000.

My budget is about $50. I can go over that a little but I'd be happy with only spending $50.

dude...that suck...sorry to hear

but anyway...I think that is a common problem with gamers like all of us in this forum

Im no expert, but you should get the most comfortable mouse to your hand...one that makes you forget you have something in your hand

try a lot of mouses

by reading others OCN members its look like the deathadder and the Performance/Revolution MX are one of the most comfortable mouse

What about the Logitech MX 518?

It seems to be really popular and the ratings are good. That would also leave me with some money for a good mouse pad.

What about these items?

Wrist pad

Mouse pad

sounds like your mouse pad is to low. you want elbow at 45 degree angle. would have to suggest the g9x for large hands.

I have a brace designed for carpal tunnel. Those carpal tunnel gloves aren't the right thing for carpal tunnel. A brace with a metal/plastic splint to prevent movement of the wrist is best. Here is what I have, except it is the Large/X-Large one.

My apologies. Not too familiar with carpal tunnel gloves/braces. Just figured I would share what I have seen some players use

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate anyone trying to help. I was told by my doctor that those gloves aren't enough support so I just thought I'd share.

How does this mouse/mouse pad combination look? It is a little more than I wanted to spend but the G9x seems to be the mouse I need.
