What to upgrade - Page 2

post #11 of 35
The question really comes down to what is going to give you the biggest performance increase. Adding another video yeah it could increase your fps, if your current game is not hurting then what else. Swapping cpu and mobo is definately an option. It would give you an increase for sure and possibly increase your FPS in your game also. Adding a SSD will definitely increase performance.

With $650 you have some wiggle room. I agree with what was said earlier, your current case is fine, unless your just sick of it, then change it out.

why???

Unless he has a home network that he is transferring files back and forth to it isn't worth it, hell even a $12 1Gbps NIC is just as sufficient. 90% of what Killer NIC is marketing.

I would think that even if his games are reaching 100+ fps, there is always room to improve the min FPS. That is where a lot of people miss out. Its fine that you get 100+ FPS when nothing is going on, but when the crap hits the fan and your frames drop down below 40 because there are 30+ players on in one little spot, that is the place where adding another card or a better single card would help out.

I think the winking face with its tongue out at the end of that meant he was joking...

depends on what he plays... if something like SC2 then then upgrading to SB will probably be his best route and OC that ***** to 5+ Ghz.

Honestly, if I had his rig I would;

Get a bigger monitor and get a better videocard or a second videocard.
That would be IMO the best 'experience' improvement for him.
I much prefer my 24" to the 22 or the 19's I had before it.

im not a pro but looking at ur budget you could sli ur gtx 470 or get a SSD
and since play an FPS a surround sound headphone would be great to hear footsteps and all
