My favorite part is the part where the screen was made out of magic.

Waveface Cloud is the future, at least according to Asus

We're already making some decent headway on augmented reality, and while I agree it may take some time, we're definitely on the way there.

Nice graphics... Oh wait, even graphics sucked. Not to mention that they can't make holograms or stretching screens.
May as well watch Star Trek instead...

Reminds me of Nokia's concept phone.

The whole thing revolves around portability, which revolves around an imaginary technology. They had a different physical device in the linked vid in the article, none of them were sizable.
agreed, the ability for a dinky square phone/screen/pda which magically grows itself/creates matter is a few years down the road methinks. I predict we will all be in nursing homes by the time a technology identical to this exists.

It all reminds me of this cheesy advertising video I saw once. It was made in the late 40's or early 50's by some no-name car manufacturer and showed their concept for a flying car that was supposedly coming soon...

I liked the idea of being woken up by imaginary birds but having a cat that wants to go get food in the morning works just as well. Concept is completely ridiculous though an expanding screen could be made using a couple projectors in a frame, though there would be serious issues with pixel density.

Somebody has been watching too many movies set in the future...
This isn't going to be possible for a long, long time.
As cool as that is, it'd be million times cooler if they actually knew how to do that... I'm not a fan of companies blowing up concepts everywhere, because they're JUST concepts!
