True, but just grasping the idea of 128 players on the battlefield with the graphics the game is going to have and the hardware it would take to render/process all of that at a playable fps is interesting itself.

Just because >64 doesn't seem fun doesn't mean they should exclude us from being able to run it :/ They should add a separate line in an .ini somewhere to let us enable it and host out own >64 player servers just so that we can at least try it out.

However this is only a minor complaint because I think they are doing a great job with this game.

If they've done and tested it, it could very well be a hidden ini file tweak that can unlock the capability.

PlanetSide can hold very well over 256 EASILY. Why would it be so hard to believe 256 is difficult on an engine that is 10 years more advanced on hardware that is 10 years more advanced?

If they really want to prove themselves to the PC community they should do this. They don't need to do this for their own servers if they're worried about bandwidth or stress, but give dedicated servers the option.

I doubt they have code that allows a 256 player mode... It is likely just a player cap, unless they have to code special resources to handle the extra players. I don't think it is a technical limitation, the game was not designed or balanced for that many players. I'm sure a 256 person match would be not fun at all.
