[GB] Battlefield 3 Can Take Up to 256 Players - Page 28

It's not always power of 2... 24 isn't a power of 2. Neither is 32...

There are 2 teams. The total number of players has to be an even number. It can be ANY even number up to 256. There are 20/22/24/26 player servers in games if you weren't aware; they're not ALL powers of 2 in capacity. The typical server provider yes, they usually just offer 16/24/32/64.

Frostbite is complex to work with. That's probably the only reason they're holding back on releasing mod tools. Battlefield's reputation is boosted by the mod community, DICE isn't being mean, they just feel Frostbite is too intense for the community to work with.

However, a player not supporting his squad is ineffective. Sometimes you have to spawn frontline to maintain momentum and pressure. This isn't CoD.

Not only that..... there is also licensed middleware that they cannot release. In addition, compiling takes hours and has a tendency to break. Without intimate knowledge, it is hard to debug.

Did no one play 64 player BF2142 titan mode? That was epic! double the mapsize (including spawnpoint and vehicle count) and your golden for 128.

Have more faith in the online PC crowd, we can get organized and capture/hold points while other teams do this or that when we need to if it means winning the game.

There is a LOT of QQing in here about snipers and tbh if it is such a huge problem in BC2 then how do you expect DICE to not do anything to remedy that in BF3?

Also console players need to get out of this thread. Or play on a pc from now on.

Agree with this
Yeah, one minute might actually be enough.

Also, to the other guy; people shouldn't be able to spawn directly on the front lines. A minute spawntime (mostly on very large maps) would encourage people to plan their strategy, and get the right people in the right vehicles before leaving the base.

I've played BF1942, BF2, BF2142, and BFBC2 I've always missed something like this.

If you spawn in the middle of a firefight, I don't care how good your team mates think they are. Spawning in the middle of fire is RE TAR DED

YOU are correct.
1^2 = 1
2^2 = 4
3^2 = 9
4^2 = 16
5^2 = 25
6^2 = 36
...
Now, 64 is a power of 2, 8^2 = 64
128 is not.
But, 256 is. 16^2 = 256

Learn 2 MTH70. lol

It isn't black and white.

If you squad is good... they can prevail. If your teammates are dying, spawn in as a medic and start saving people. If they're pinned down by a vehicle, engineer or recon. When you see a good squad working together, you know. 4 guys holding back 10+ enemies by reviving, switching kits, smoking, etc.

Not spawning in to help your teammates can be equally stupid. If you squad just spent the last 5 mins pushing through enemy lines, it may be better to attempt to hold out rather than start over.

Battlefield games are usually objective-based. Sometimes you need to take one for the team. It pisses me off to no end when my squad is a fire-fight defending/attacking a flag and one of the squad member decides to spawn 500m away in a safe spot instead. Thanks for the help guy.
