New Rig? Pre-built or Me built? - Page 4

Good. Go for it coop. Build build build away. I just built my first pc yesterday and it was great. All my instructions were in Chinese, but from everything I had learned here, it was a breeze.

Your parts list looks fine. You will hear that if you're just gaming, 4gig of ram is sufficient. You can check now, how much is being used with your excel files. If you already have several HDDs laying around, why not skip the f4 and grab an SSD. The Phantom was the case I was eyeing before I got this one. I checked it out in the shop yesterday and you'll have plenty of room to maneuver. Good luck!

While not new to PC building, it has been over 6 years. LOL. I moved up to 8GB. I want a specific boot drive that is why I am going with the little guy.

How much do I need if I want a SSD as a boot drive?

Get a 750W PSU for less cash. It'll probably be the difference in whether or not you can SLI/XFire down the line.

I saw that one too, but it seems that some people there didn't have a good experience.

"It exploded on me" I know a bit of an exageration maybe, but still.

Newegg and amazon price so competitive, its almost always down to which one you gotta pay tax for.

Amazon tax: Kansas, Kentucky, New York, North Dakota, or Washington
Newegg tax: California, New Jersey, and Tennessee

If you live in none of those, then you lucky, take your pick.

OK I just built my computer last night. the hardest part was installing the CM V6 cooler and the application of thermal paste or if you were me the reapplication of thermal paste and the putting in and taking out of the motherboard as I realized I either got stuff wrong or forgot to put in the backplate to the motherboard.... but kind of like legos.. I dont know if it works yet
