HX1000 and CrossfireX 6990's

Thread Starter
I have lately been reading the influx and the mass of reviews regarding the Radeon HD 6990. Certain reviewers mention 1100-1200 Watts as being the safe side for running 2 6990's in a CrossfireX configuration. Would the HX1000 be sufficient to run 2 6990's in a CrossfireX combination/configuration ?

Yes, very easily. But the HX1000 is essentially two 500W units packaged into one enclosure, you may need to load balance the rails so you don't overdraw too much power from one rail.

However would it also be sufficient for CrossfireX 6990's when the 450W Bios Switch is enabled or was that only sufficient for the 350W CrossfireX 6990's ?
You shouldn't be allowing a 450W load unless you have water cooling anyway.
I wouldn't touch it with an HX1000.

AX1200 or similar.
