5970 11.2 Drivers mess up

Thread Starter
Hi, updating to 11.2 completely messed up my 5970, I get 1 second random freeze when playing youtube, everything was working fine under 10.4

Do you know what's the best drivers for my 5970? it's amazing that in 2 years they haven't been able to do decent drivers for this card, c'mon AMD/ATI! I know you can do better!

I'm using 11.2 with Crossfire and I've had no problems...

Did you update your application profiles? Did you wipe 10.4 before you installed them?

I've been having lots of issues with 11.x drivers, too. For me personally I've found the best stability in 10.12a hotfix drivers. I've been running them for awhile now and I've never had any issues so far.

+Rep to you guys for fast reply.

No I did not run driversweeper, I know its the prefered method, I just felt that updating 10.4 to latest steam drivers should be OK but it isn't.

Will try going back to 10.4 probably

You need to install the ATI Catalyst Application Profiles on that page. If you don't, then you're going to run into problems. I wouldn't uninstall 11.2 before you give it a try.

Give this a shot, never hurts trying.

Also, I'd stay away from Driver Sweeper. You're better off just using the Catalyst install manager to uninstall previous drivers.

I always use driver sweeper I am have found that if I do not use this software I have bugs as well.
Also do you know your 2D clock?
I have noticed if it is only 1 monitor with no OC I get 157/300 with dual monitors with no OC I get 400/1000 which seems to be stable.
Does it crash in 3D mode?
I run kombuster in the background while I am browsing to confirm if it is a 2D or 3D clock issue.

I don't trust Driver Sweeper/Cleaner at all anymore. It caused an utter nightmare when trying to install Windows 7 SP1.

The latest version fixed that issue, however I still don't trust it. To each his own.

Honestly its not even necessary anymore. The uninstall feature on the ATI installer does the job just fine.
