Welll...... put more foam? wink.gif

I saw something that looked like it, but wasn't sure.
How is noise/temps anyways?

I would like to put more foam in there. The only problem is that the more stuff I put in there the less room there is more my hands lol.

The noise is alright, I think the 355 is a little on the noisy side for such a compact setup. I have a spare 350 I might swap in instead.

I think I'm going to change the res again though, thinking about a bitspower mini tank plus. I want to put the 35x rest/top into main game rig. Argh what a pain in the arse that one has been. The rx480 that was damaged, still works and so I was testing it in the main rig. I'd already flushed it but apparently there's some flux that got knocked loose, I'm assuming from the fedex drop... I guess it didn't get flushed until the pressure from a 35x pump pushing full tilt knocked a load of gunk into the loop.

It took me a swap to the good rx480 before I ruled out that the cpu block was clogged. I was really, really hesitant to pull the block off because I used indigo extreme. That removal costed me 9 bucks, cha ching.

Anyways I just finished cleaning the block out. Will have to wait till I get a mini tank from Jabtech, then I get too do this all over again.

Yeah my CPU block is old as earth and last time I unmounted everything I saw some green parts in it :-o
I just don't really know how to dismantle my block since they're specifically custom made

Good luck on re-doing stuff all over

Got some updates here. Swapped the AMD system out and put in my old i7 920 system.

How quiet is it? Seems like it's an extremely quiet system!

I hope it's very quiet! The previous iteration was decent, but the Artic Cooling F12s weren't as strong nor as quiet as the quietest fans on the market, AP15s. I swapped AP15s in on this update. The higher flow and static pressure will improve the cooling also since there are no intake fans.

I might have to cut some holes and put some mesh in to reduce the negative intake situation. We'll see once I finish filling and bleeding it. Oh, I also added a koolance sink to the mcp350, and mounted it with 8 harddrive rubber bushings. To improve flow, I also swapped the blue top impeller for a large black top impeller. I used my last Indigo TIM from when the 920 was my main rig. I hop it flows right the first time lol, because opening the thing up is a pita, and for that matter I hope the OS from the RAID 0 isn't broken from being swapped around. Crosses fingers.

I've always been a bit scared of putting foam in my rigs... the server that is 1m away from my ears could definitely use some!

So far the noise is very low, even with the fans at full speed. With the fans at 1000rpm-ish, it's almost silent. There's a problem though, there's not enough airflow and it's choking the rad. It's running at 4ghz@1.22v at the moment. I'm going to have to either clock it way down or start making some holes.

Right now my 6870s idle at 43 on stock air coolers. i want to watercool them. I really don't care about watercooling the cpu since it's very very quiet. the only problem is i can't fit any sort of radiator in the case without covering up the cpu like you did. I may be able to squeeze a 2x80 radiator in the back behind the cpu where the exhaust fans are. If i can i may just get a 2x80 radiator and just watercool the gpus and leave the cpu on air. The only problem is im not sure a 2x80 is going to be enough to cool my 2 gpu's. or should i just watercool the cpu also and put a 3x120 radiator like you did?

turok14373 asked this question so I'm going to revive this thread, will make easier and better as a working thread.

Without watercooling the cpu, there isn't any real space to play with. It's a catch 22, if you don't remove the cpu, you'll have to put a rad where the drive trays are going parallel with the front of the case. Ah, but then you have no place to put your pump and res, and stuff... that's the rub.

For me it all worked because I could lay the rad across the cpu and the cdrom trays. Then the space where the drive trays were could be used to house the pump, res, and stuff. The real question is are you willing to waste that much space for a big heatsink just to cool the cpu?

Btw, 2x80mm is not nearly enough to cool two gpus, and that's ignoring that rad's inefficiencies. I went with the RX rad because it was the best value at low noise. And because I had the freedom space wise, vertically speaking (no cpu cooler) I could splurge on an extra thick rad. Thus the RX360 was perfect. I'm going to swap out the 4890s soon with 6950s, and incredibly the TDP of gpus will stay roughly the same. I'm thinking this will happen in the next two months. I've also decided on the area to cut up for more intake. It's going to be the case wall that holds the hard drives.

But in your case, the 6870s have a TDP of 150w ea, so you'll have a bit more breathing room. A RX360 will comfortably (give or take) cool two 6870s and a cpu imo. I hope that helps.
