Try out my paint program

I wrote a paint program a while back and I wanted to know what you guys thought, its no where near finished and some features dont work yet (like the bottom two buttons) but I will get them working hopefully over the summer. School is taking up a lot of my time so I can't work on it now. Anyway, tell me what you guys think or what I should change about it. Heres the link:

Its really cool that you created this and it works flawlessly and looks neat and clean.

Only gripe is that its extremely basic! But good job.

Thanks a lot, I appreciate the kind words. Yeah, I wanted to make a pencil tool that allowed you to click one point and have the line follow the mouse until you clicked a second point. Hopefully I'll get around to that. I also wanted to add a shape tool that allowed you to drag and drop the shape.

This is awesome! im actually learning ui in java right now and i had an idea to do this but im not sure how to do the traces. I was thinking that i would do the java draw line method with the coordinates of the mouse press and then the mouse release but im not sure if that will work or how. Any pointers please let me know

The way I did it was depending on the shape the user picked I would draw that shape using the java paint() method and add it to the end of an ArrayList and then call the repaint() method. So essentially every time a user draws anything it repaints the ArrayList. If you need any help let me know.

I would get a firm understanding of how Swing and AWT work before starting a project like this. Also dabble around in the Java Paint class. Make some practice GUI programs like something that gets a few numbers from a user and does a calculation.
