AMD Athlon II x4 640 on msi870g45 oc issue - Page 2

In all honesty, I'll be very surprised if you can get a x4 640 completely stable at 3.8.

Did you put the HT down to 2000 mhz? Try bumping up the CPU-NB voltage a tad more.

Very high voltage to push on such a board with unreliable VRMs... even if this processor is 95W TDP, I don't recommend touching 1.45V even

ya ive determined that its not gonna happen on my setup 3.8 will run a 3dmark test but wont last a mni on prime or occt.. fiddled with voltages all day ran tests and the closest i could get was the 4th core would fail on prime and rest survive?.....But 3.6ghz works like a champ...occt running full load nice temps..
set the cpu voltsto 1.410 cpu-nb1.295 and dram to 1.63...runs exellent at such a low temp thats why i thought maybe id get 3.8ghz no prob but no go i need a better board and cpu ...i want 1090t!!! thanks for the input guys

I see. You might also want to know that a lot of x4 640s don't OC that well. My friend hit a wall at only 3.5Ghz on an NADHC stepping.

dude...bring the ht down to 2ghz as you can. everything looks good. most i can push on the cpu-nb was 2400ghz with the athlon x4 640. also...3.5ghz was the most stable clock for those cpu unless you can get colder then what a heatsink can do.
