I'd go for a smaller monitor personally. 1080p is not good enough for a 27" screen.

is it that bad Pixel Pitch 0.311mm ? its noticable at 1 meter?

ASUS VE276Q.

Many said its ASUS VE278Q an updated version of ASUS VE276Q?
Quote:

Been looking too for this one, infact i was at the edge to buy it, but got my eyes on that ASUS.

It has been said this samsung got more colour bleed and not so good view angles than ASUS VE278Q?

Sorry for confusion, but is this Asus VE278Q good deal? I know Asus is leading in some categories in hardware, but in display categorie is it genuine?

i spent a few hours last night with both the VE276Q and VE278Q on my desk, side by side. they are damn near identical picture quality-wise. they're the same panel with the only difference being the backlight method. the LED 8Q has a blue-green tint that won't go away, when compared to the CCFL 6Q (some might view this as red tint on the 6Q). one thing to note - my particular 6Q has minor backlight bleed along the bottom, the 8Q has no backlight bleed whatsoever. perhaps this is indicative of edge-lit LED monitors? the coloring of the 6Q looks more natural to me, so i prefer it. YMMV.

bottom line - you won't know which one you prefer until you have them side by side on your desk, but they are so damn close in picture quality that i doubt you'd be unhappy with either.

Porter_ Thank you!

and i got some more questions if you dont mind

1.Can this blue/red tint be rediced by adjusting the colour scheme etc?

2.What about thickness? i have seen on asus site that it is identical when it comes to similarity about look? (VE276Q vs VE278Q)

3.1920x1080p with Pixel Pitch 0.311mm can be noticable at 1 meter (please make an honest reply on that)

4.about build itself can the "plastic be heared" if you want to adjust angle (does it creak) and about wobbly stand?

I dont care about power consumption and heating... i just want better screen THANK YOU! rep up

and VE276Q is about 20EURO cheaper than VE278Q

1. regarding the 8Q, it can be reduced but i was never able to fully get rid of the blue/green tint. i've got the 6Q dialed in so no need to further adjust. i don't own calibration equipment so this is simply as my eyes perceive it.
2. same thickness between the 6Q and the 8Q
3. this is a subjective thing - the .311 dot pitch looks just fine to me. text is not as clear as other monitors, but it is completely acceptable to my eyes. games and movies look fantastic.
4. adjusting the angle of the monitor makes no 'plastic noise', in fact it feels very high-quality when adjusting the angle. the plastic in general feels fine on both models. the buttons on the 6Q feel noticeably cheaper than the 8Q. the stand is more wobbly on the 6Q as well, perhaps due to the added weight of the CCFL backlighting making it more top-heavy.

this is the main thing, that holds me back from 27" althought i will buy it. Please take your head at about 50 - 70 cm from display. Are "dot pitch" visible? by what you mean text is not clear? that cant be fixed by calibrating, sharpness, or other thing? THX

50-70cm = ~20-28in, which is right in the range i sit at. the text is more pixelated than monitors with smaller dot pitch. you won't know if you can tolerate the 0.311 dot pitch until you see it in person. i was able to view a 27" 1920x1080 monitor in person at Office Depot before i purchased my ASUS monitor, so i knew what i was getting into. best advice i can give is to buy from a B&M with a good return policy, or from Amazon who has an excellent no-questions-asked return policy.
