Overclocking via HTRef(fsb) Worth it?

Hey

Sorry if this is posted elsewhere, but i tryed searching for an answer first but without luck.
Just wondering if its possible for a newbie overclocker to get a half decent OC from the HTRef, as my multi is locked at x12 and i can't afford to upgrade just yet, my temps are good to my understanding (~18-20c idle) but i can't seem to OC using the 'fsb' by even 1 lol or the machine won't post and iv to reset the cmos.
Im not doin just for the sake of doing it though, mainly for games like Oblivion etc that are cpu heavy and only running on 2ish cores max, strains my system with mods, and especially emulators, only using 1 core.
Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated, Thanks alot in advance

Lol, for most people it's the only way to go.

I can do 4.5GHz on my chip wit only bus lol.

The only thing is that you need a decent board and decent RAMs. And patience

Whoa, that was quick lol

My board is a bit err.. outdated, but do you think it can handle it from your own experience? my Chipset is an AMD 790X & SB is ATI SB600, my Ram is pretty bad i know but i can probably underclock that maybe and bring it back up to current via fsb?.
Im still not 100% on eveything the htref/fsb affects though tbh, as my HT Link multi is locked on auto untill i can find a bios update.

Thanks again, appreciated.
