No Unlocked Cores, Trying to OC now

Thread Starter
Hey Guys, I am now trying to OC my CPU after being unable to unlock extra CORES(I know, not Coors). Here are my specs:

Western Digital Caviar Green WD7500AADS 750GB SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive -Bare Drive

Mushkin Enhanced Silverline 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model 996770

AMD Phenom II X2 545 Callisto 3.0GHz Socket AM3 80W Dual-Core Processor

BIOSTAR A880G+ AM3 AMD 880G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

EVGA 01G-P3-1312-LR GeForce 210 1GB 64-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile Video Card

Some help would be appreciated. I have started by raising my CPU Frequency from 200 to 216. I tested at 218 and I got into windows then went to BSOD. I tried lowering my DDR3 from 1333 to 1066 with no luck at CPUf @ 218.

I can post an image of my CPU-z if needed, and someone tells me how.

I will try to lower my HT Link Frequency and NB Frequency now (both are at 2160) and raise my CPU freq.

The Silverline generic 1333 CL9 RAM - out of all the generic RAM out there - really don't OC very well. With a non-multiplier-unlocked CPU you may have some trouble.
Lower the RAM multi and keep timings manually set so they are at their default 9-9-9, and then continue, but don't expect to hit something like 4Ghz.

You could also try raising DRAM voltage, up to 1.65V I'd recommend, but still don't expect good results.

Thanks XD. I just tried to up the CPUf to 218 and lower the HT link and CPUNB to 1.6k (CPU-z has it at 1.74k) still no luck with stability.

keep you RAM speed down along with you HT (overclocking the HT can cause instability quickly and has no real effect)

Keep the CPU-NB at stock for now

Raise the Bus speed in small increments (maybe 3-4Mhz at a time) and test for stability
as soon as it becomes unstable raise you CPU voltage one notch and test again.

repeat this until you either reach ~50C or 1.5v, at this point you'r at your limit.

while you doing this keep an eye on what speeds your CPU-NB, HT, and RAM are running at and decrease their multipliers to keep them at or below stock.

I lowered the RAM multi to 1066 and kept timings manually set so they are at their default 9-9-9. I got CPUf to 238, after that I get BSOD. I will try now with keeping the HT and CPU NB speed down

what temps are you running at on full load?

Also, go to the user control panel and fill out your system specs, it will help us help you.

If my coors light were locked up, I'd be pissed off too.

On topic - raise your CPU Vcore.

Are you the guy that made the same mistake a few weeks ago ? lol

ontopic: Lower the ram multi.

Lets not have a thread full of beer again please...

@OP: IT'S CORES NOT COORS

stop giving them an excuse.

OT: What cooling do you have?

The 545 is known for low rate of success with regards to unlocking, but i think u will find that a straight overclock is just as good in these chips...i could write a long speech here on how to help...but check out my sig i wrote a guide for our chips...maybe it will help.
