So much for its "BSD roots" allowing it to be more secure.

The real "problem" for Apple is probably simpler. The iphone profits dwarf their mac profits, and their ipad profits are already as high as their main mac business, what do you think is going to get the focus? Just look at how long Tiger took to come out, and what happened to the new "marble" interface? MacOS is stagnant, the developer effort is all ipod/iphone/ipad, and it will be until the mad growth in those segments starts to slow.

^This. Apple themselves have said they want the desktop and mobile experience to become more similar and seamless.

And therefore - sucky. I want a desktop that can do real world tasks, not run some weak apps from some proprietary app store. But lots of people don't want computers, they just want to waste their time with Facebook and other horror shows.

I am not surprised Safari fell to the hackers, seeing that it hasn't had a real update or overhaul in a number of years. Sure, they had some new versions - but they just stuffed more bloat into it, while not doing any actual work on the browser itself. However, Apple knows that people just don't use Safari, and that most OSX users are using Firefox, and have been since Firefox was ported to OSX...

I think the Mac OS works well on the laptops. I have a MacBook Pro and I really like it. I do agree that a desktop should have a different feel. That's why I have my sig rig. That and about the only thing you can play on a Mac is Source Engine games on low settings... Lol
